New York Gothams (17-19 .472 6.5 GB in 6th place in the Liberty League) at
Detroit Wolverines (26-15 .634 1st place)
Tom McDowell, N.Y. (23-8.0) (R 3-1 6.25 12.3-2.0-2.2 H-BB-K/9) vs. Lou Townley, Det. (25-3.4) (R 12-4 2.45 9.0-1.3-3.2)
This is gonna stink if we get swept by the Gothams without even facing Miah Turner (26-5.3). LF Al Lewis (21-9.1) is ready to play again. We are 6-1 with him in the lineup.
Won - 5 to 3
Townley allowed 5 hits, 2 walks and struck out 6. That is the season high for K's for any of our pitchers. It's a different game this year, for sure.
We had 6 hits and made 3 errors. New York made 2.
2B Jocko Cole (25-6.1) had 2 hits, stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs.
For the Gothams, SS Pussy Wise (25-6.8) had 2 hits with a triple, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. P Tom McDowell had to leave in the 1st inning with a sore thumb, but should be fine in a day or two.
Liberty League:
Cleveland (8) at Cincinnati (5): Artie Boucher (24-6.1) (1-0) in his Liberty League debut over John Stevens (30-8.2) (8-9). Boucher was 4-0 in 4 starts for Pittsburgh last season in the GNA. Manager/C Deacon Dubin (30-8.8) had 2 hits with his 2nd home run of the year and 4 RBIs.
Pittsburgh (1) at Louisville (9): William McLeod (28-5.6) (11-6) over Tom Adams (32-6.0) (2-4). McLeod allowed 5 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5. 11-6 with an expansion team is pretty impressive.
