Lou tossed his 2nd shutout in a row!

Townley allowed 5 hits, no walks and struck out 2. He had 6 assists in the field.

We had 13 hits and did not make an error. Indianapolis made 3.

We made 2 errors and Indianapolis made none.

3B Sam Boullion (27-4.8) had 2 hits and scored 2 runs. SS Al Shaffer (26-5.6) had 4 hits , stole a base, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. He has been our best player by far in the early going. He leads the Liberty League with a .453 batting average and has scored 14 runs and knocked in 14 in 13 games. They aren't all singles, either, he has 7 extra-base hits, which tied 1B Tom Duncan (22-6.6) for the team lead. LF Ben Smith (27-6.7) had 2 hits with a double, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. 2B Jocko Cole (25-6.1) had 2 hits with a triple, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. RF Fred Bianco (28-6.9) hit a double and had an RBI.

Liberty League:

Cleveland (7) at Louisville (3): Ed Pedersen (25-5.1) (4-5) over Count Childs (31-3.1) (2-4). Pedersen allowed 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 3. 3B Cowboy Gray (24-7.8) hit 2 doubles and his 2nd home run of the season, scored twice and had 4 RBIs.

Cincinnati (2) at Pittsburgh (4): Tom Lilly (27-6.4) (4-3) over Charlie Branham (27-4.2) (2-5). Lilly allowed 4 hits, no walks and struck out 2. Branham allowed 6 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2. For the Reds, rookie 2B Ed Kent (23-3.6) will miss about 3 weeks with a sore shoulder.

New York (3) at Boston (19): William Little (26-6.0) (3-2) over Jack Roberts (35-6.1) (2-5). In 2 of his last 3 starts, Roberts has allowed at least 14 runs and walked 9 batters in each one without striking anyone out. In the other game, he faced Detroit and only gave up 6 hits and 2 walks while beating us 5 to 3. LF Charlie Warner (33-9.2) had 3 hits with 2 doubles and a walk, stole a base, scored 4 runs and had an RBI. CF Pat Stafford (26-5.4) had 3 hits with a double and a walk, scored 2 runs and had 4 RBIs. C Joe Ostrander (33-4.1), in his 1st major league game since appearing for Detroit in 1882, had 3 hits with a double, scored a run and had 4 RBIs. For the Gothams, CF Lorenzo Chappell (27-5.2) hit a home run. Rookie LF Fred James (23-5.3) will miss about 5 weeks with a strained forearm.

Grand National Association:
Baltimore (3) at Milwaukee (4): Freddy Wood (31-6.3) (4-6) over Pop Yurkovich (35-5.6) (4-5). Yurkovich with his 2nd straight 1-run loss in a decently pitched game.

Providence (8) at St. Louis (5): Ed Wison (26-7.3) (1-3) over Fred Barrow (35-4.7) (3-6). C John Toler (29-6.4) hit a home run.

Brooklyn (8) at Chicago (6): Ren French (25-4.9) (4-3) over Pat Seguin (23-4.4) (10-2). C Billy Boblett (29-5.4) had 2 hits with a home run and 4 RBIs. RF Tom Campbell (28-3.6) hit a home run.
