Today we begin a 3 game series with manager Silver Borresen (32-6.9) and his Reds. If they have designs on winning the Liberty League Championship, they will have to beat us in this series. We are 6-9 against them on the season and they beat us 2 of 3 in Cincinnati a month ago the last time we met. The are tied for 2nd in runs scored with Detroit at 5.4 runs per game. They are 4th in runs allowed with 4.9 per game (Detroit is #1 with 3.9).

Cincinnati Reds (67-41 .620 7 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Detroit Wolverines (74-34 .685 1st place)

Charlie Branham, Cin. (26-4.2) (R 17-7 2.70 8.7-1.7-4.6 H-BB-K/9) vs. Ed Bush, Det. (26-5.3) (R 33-9 2.29 6.5-2.4-5.7)

Won - 7 to 2

Bush allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 6.

Branham gave us 10 hits, no walks and struck out 4.

We made 4 errors in the rainy weather and Cincinnati made 7.

3B Sam Boullion (26-4.8) had 2 hits with a triple, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. 2B Jocko Cole (25-6.1) had 2 hits with a double, scored a run and had 2 RBIs, but made 3 errors. SS Al Shaffer (26-5.6) had 2 hits with a double and scored a run. C Jimmy Babcock (30-6.9) hit a double and a triple and had 2 RBIs. Since Evan Eckberg (30-3.5) got hurt, Babcock is hitting .400 (10 for 25).

Liberty League:

Rochester (9) at Indianapolis (6): Bill Henson (29-6.5) (17-26) over Joe Osborne (28-3.0) (4-14). Henson allowed 8 hits, 6 walks and struck out 3. CF George Everman (30-6.3) had 4 hits with 2 triples, stole a base, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBIs. C Jim Martin (25-5.0) had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs.

Cleveland (1) at Philadelphia (9): Fred Barrow (34-4.7) (16-25) over Henry Rawls (32-4.3) (1-8). Barrow allowed 5 hits, no walks and struck out 4. 1B Jack Warren (34-7.2) had 3 hits with a double, scored a run and had 3 RBIs. CF George Zech (33-7.1) had 3 hits with a double and a home run, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBIs.

New York (5) at Boston (1): Miah Turner (25-5.3) (25-21) over Joe Peters (30-4.9). Turner allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 7. At bat, he walked twice and scored a run. He has won 8 of his last 9 decisions. Peters allowed 7 hits, 4 walks and struck out 8. 2B Bill Baker (24-3.6) had 2 hits with a double, stole a base and scored 2 runs.

Grand National Association:

Providence (10) at Brooklyn (3): Ed Wison (25-7.3) (31-19) over William David (23-3.6) (0-6). Wison allowed 6 hits, 4 walks and struck out 3. Brooklyn made 10 errors. 3B Sam Clark (35-4.7) had 3 hits, stole his 1st base of the season, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.

Pittsburgh (3) at Baltimore (4): Tom Wilmarth (26-5.4) (21-24) over Tom Lilly (26-6.4) (25-23). Baltimore won the game in the bottom of the 9th with 2 singles and a passed ball. Wilmarth allowed 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4. Lilly allowed 6 hits, 4 walks and struck out 2. Rookie SS Ducky Hogan (25-5.3) had 2 hits and score a run.

Kansas City (9) at Omaha (16): Tom Lee (28-6.0) (29-15) over Al McClaughry (22-5.6) (25-28). LF Dave Cunningham (31-5.4) had 3 hits with a double and a walk, stole a base and had 4 RBIs. Rookie 1B Fred Negus (22-6.7) had 3 hits and a walk, stole a base, scored 3 runs and had 2 RBIs.

Chicago (9) at Milwaukee (4): Pony Stanley (23-6.2) (33-24) over Dan Burton (31-4.9) (22-31). Stanley allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3. At bat, he had 2 hits and scored a run. LF Tommy Casale (26-3.7) had 3 hits with a triple, scored 3 runs and had an RBI.
