It wasn't a personal attack, but I think you could have explained yourself better. I'm used to hearing people bash "the latest version of Direct X" in all sorts of tech forums, all the time. And for no significant reason. I'm not a criminal for generalizing.

If you had said "I had a similar problem related to my upgrading of Direct X to version 9- did you do the same, recently? Here's what you do if that's the case:..." that would have been different. I can't read your mind- I don't know your intentions or motivations. But I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Anyway, I was under the impression that you cannot uninstall or downgrade a version of Direct X without reinstalling Windows. Perhaps I have confused this with something else, as you claim to have downgraded before. Or perhaps you used a system restore- I really don't know. But that was the origin of my Windows comment.

But my incorrect perceptions were not a case of me "putting words in your mouth." I simply often speak in general tones, as I find that it makes my words more accessible. It was not a specific affront. Did your comment put me off, a little? Yes- but not toward you- toward that other mentioned "type".

Oh- and regarding this comment: "...I never claimed that DirectX 9 was "buggy" in any way. The fact is that not all computer hardware configurations work well with certain versions of DirectX and that could be the problem in this case." To me, that's sort of one of the defintions of "buggy." Semantics, perhaps- but I hope that that better explains my comments.
