Owner Goals are Dumb

I'm entering my 9th season, and it seems that the owner goals are getting worse and worse.

Two seasons ago, I made the World Series but lost; my budget increased to 210 million; two of my goals were to sign Justin Verlander to an extension (he wanted 35+ million per year) and to cut payroll from $140 million to $130 million.

I didn't sign Verlander, my payroll went up to about $160 and I won the World Series. We made $38 million dollars, and my new goals just came in: Sign Felix Hernandez to an extension (still has a year left on his deal, is 36 years old and wants a deal that pays $20 million per year), build a championship team...and cut payroll to $130 million. Sigh.
