Omaha (5) at Pittsburgh (2): Tom Lee (28-6.0) (21-13) over Whitey Mathews (23-4.1) (23-18). Lee allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4. He has now won 10 starts in a row. Mathews allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. 2B Bones Collins (31-4.4) had 2 hits with a double, scored a run and had 2 RBIs.
Baltimore (8) at Providence (9) in 11 innings: Dave Frazier (26-5.7) (5-6) in relief of Tom Blomberg (28-4.7) over Sammy O'Quinn (24-5.9) (5-11) in relief of Pop Yurkovich (34-5.6). Providence scored 4 times in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game. Rookie 3B Ed Knight (23-5.1) ended the game with an infield single. He had 4 hits and 2 RBIs.
Brooklyn (8) at Kansas City (9): Dan Butler (29-4.7) (10-17) over John Ritch (31-7.8) (12-10). The Cowboys scored 5 times in the 8th inning. Ritch has lost 7 of his last 8 decisions. LF Lou Baggett (24-4.2) had 4 hits, stole 2 bases, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. SS Jim McCarthy (25-7.5) pulled a muscle and will miss about 2 weeks. For Brooklyn, rookie 1B Lew Bell (29-4.2) had 4 hits, scored 3 runs and had an RBI.
Milwaukee (1) at Chicago (7): Pony Stanley (23-6.2) (26-17) over Zachary Buchanan (25-4.0) (17-25). Stanley allowed 4 hits, no walks and struck out 4. He has won 7 decisions in a row. In 7 innings, Buchanan allowed 4 hits, 3 walks and struck out 4. 3B Adonis Warren (37-5.1) had 2 hits with a triple, scored a run and had 3 RBIs. He did ot get to play in the major leagues until he was 35 years old, but he is having a very good season. He is currently 3rd in the GNA in extra-base hits with 32 and leads with 23 doubles.
