Before I say anything else, I'll say this: I love this game and I know it has taken a tremendous amount of work to get it into its current form. Sebastian has done quality work on this. Sebastian deserves a lot of praise for investing so much of his time and effort developing MLBM.

OK, with that out of the way, here are my observations:
  • Sebastian's (and OOTP Developments') priority is the PC/Mac platform. Not iOS or Android.
  • Sebastian has been working very, very hard to resolve all the issues and fallout from the FHM release, which was unfortunately a bit of a debacle and required countless developer hours to fix.
  • Sebastian has reminded us repeatedly that MLBM (and iOOTP before that) does not generate enough revenue for him to make anything approaching fair compensation for his work.
  • Because of this, and the situation with FHM, it is extremely unlikely that Sebastian will be able (or willing) to create numerous updates to address the issues in MLBM. MLBM is very close to being "finished," but it's clear to anyone who plays the game for any length of time that it lacks polish and has obvious bugs (screen orientation issue, lack of access to 'Documents' folder on iOS, etc).
  • However, the game is playable and enjoyable in its current form.
To me, it seems like OOTP Dev's tablet strategy is to create a "toy" version of the much more sophisticated PC/Mac game, and MLBM is prioritized as a product accordingly. While I understand that the continued support of early generations of iPad/iPhone and Android devices means that new features are necessarily limited by the hardware, I would hate to see the game limited to "toy" status forever, especially now that "Football Manager Classic" has been released for the tablet platform, and FMC is really only slightly less complicated than its PC/Mac parent. (I don't necessarily agree that MLBM should become that complicated/deep, but it shows that the tablet platform can certainly support feature-rich simulation games.)

Bottom line is that until Sebastian can extract himself from the ongoing challenges with FHM, it is unlikely that we will see any updates to MLBM. I hope I'm wrong. The simple truth of the matter is that the OOTP studio cannot support the hiring of a dedicated resource for MLBM, so we'll just have to accept that and be thankful that we have a game this good to play, even if it makes some of us frustrated at times with its limitations and bugs.
