Grand National Association:
Omaha (8) at Providence (9) in 10 innings: Ed Wison (25-7.3) (21-16) over Lee Sprague (26-3.5) (12-12). Providence scored twice in the bottom of the 9th to tie it and then the most bizarre ending I can imagine happened. A player reached on a dropped 3rd strike and then scored on 3 wild pitches! Though the wild pitches weren't one right after the other, that is still pretty weird. In 10 innings, Wison allowed 7 hits, 8 walks and struck out 7. Sprague allowed 11 hits, 4 walks and struck out 6. At bat, he had a hit, scored a run and had an RBI. Sprague 12-12; what's the world coming to? He has lost 4 in a row. RF John Froom (37-6.2) had 2 hits with a bases-loaded home run. He scored twice.
Milwaukee (5) at Kansas City (1): Zachary Buchanan (25-4.0) (17-23) over Lew Burnett (25-4.5) (10-15). Buchanan allowed 8 hits, 4 walks and struck out 4. At bat, he walked and scored a run. Rookie 1B Herman Ralli (26-4.8) had 2 hits and scored 2 runs. Brooklyn has now lost 5 in a row and their lead is only 0.5 game over the Colts and 3.5 over Pittsburgh.
