At bat, he had a hit and an RBI. CF Al Steel (26-7.0) had 4 hits with a double and a triple, scored 2 runs and 3 RBIs. 3B Dan White (26-5.1) hit 2 triples and scored 2 runs.

Chicago (5) at Omaha (6) in 11 innings Game 2: Tom Lee (28-6.0) (14-13) over Pete Rinehart (27-6.2) (20-12). Omaha scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game. Rookie CF Fred Negus (22-6.7) won the game with a 2-out single. In 11 innings, Lee allowed 11 hits, 5 walks and struck out 5. Rinehart allowed 8 hits, 4 walks and struck out 8.
