We begin a 3 game series with manager Paul Richards (45-5.4) and his Spiders today. So far, we are 4-3 against them on the season and we swept them 3 games in Cleveland almost a month ago. They are 2nd in the League in runs scored with 5.6 per game (Detroit is 4th with 5.1). They are 8th in runs allowed with 6.4 per game (Detroit is 2nd with 4.0).

3B Sam Boullion (26-4.8) had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBIs. He has now had a hit in 12 straight games and is batting .408 during that stretch. 2B Jocko Cole (24-6.1) hit a triple and drew a walk, scored a run and had an RBI. CF Willie Kirby (24-2.1) hit 2 doubles, but had no runs or RBIs. SS AL Shaffer (25-5.6) had 2 hits and scored a run.
For the Spiders, CF Bill Nichols (26-7.7) had 2 hits with an inside-the-park home run and 2 RBIs.
Liberty League:
Cincinnati (3) at Philadelphia (4): Ted Ryther (32-4.3) (9-15) over John Stevens (29-8.2) (14-11). Ryther allowed 12 hits, no walks and struck out 3. At bat, he had a hit and scored a run. Stevens allowed 7 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. C Andy Runnels (29-7.8) had 2 hits with a double and scored a run. For the Reds, rookie C Dave Passick (23-4.4) hit 2 doubles and a triple and scored a run.
Boston (6) at Rochester (5): Charlie Morlock (37-6.7) (12-12) over Ed Hodges (26-3.2) (9-13). Morlock allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 7. Hodges allowed 9 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3. At bat, he hit a double and scored a run. Rookie CF Sal Griffin (23-5.0) hit a double and a triple, stole a base, scored 3 runs and had an RBI.
Indianapolis (5) at New York (3): Dad Marshall (27-4.4) (14-10) over Miah Turner (25-5.3) (10-15). Marshall allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4. At bat, he had a hit. Turner allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 9. At bat, he had a hit and scored a run. Yet another loss for Turner in which he only allowed 1 earned run. This makes his 5th of the season. Manager/RF Ed Wakefield (26-5.8) had 2 hits with a triple and scored a run.
Grand National Association:
Milwaukee (5) at Pittsburgh (16): Whitey Mathews (23-4.1) (18-13) over Zachary Buchanan (25-4.0) (15-16). Mathews allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. SS Jim Ware (32-5.6) had 3 hits with a double, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. CF Al Steel (26-7.0) hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBIs.
Omaha (10) at Providence (7): Bill Hamilton (28-5.4) (8-7) over Dave Frazier (26-5.7) (2-4). Hamilton allowed 11 hits, no walks and struck out 2. At bat, he had a hit, scored a run and had an RBI. Rookie CF Fred Negus (22-6.7) had 3 hits, stole 2 bases, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. 1B Tom Anglin (33-5.6) had 4 hits and an RBI.
Baltimore (10) at Kansas City (11): Dan Butler (29-4.7) (8-16) over Sammy O'Quinn (24-5.9) (4-8) in relief of Tom Wilmarth (26-5.4). Baltimore tied the game with 2 runs in the top of the 8th, but Kansas City took the lead with a run in the bottom half. Then the Orioles took the lead with 2 runs in the top of the 9th, but the Cowboys won with 2 in the bottom half. P Dan Butler ended the game with a run-scoring single. SS Jim McCarthy (25-7.5) had 3 hits with a double and a triple, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. LF Lou Baggett (24-4.2) had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBIs.
Brooklyn (3) at Chicago (4): Pony Stanley (23-6.2) (18-14) over Ren French (25-4.9) (13-11). Chicago scored 3 times in the bottom of the 9th to win. P Stanley ended the game with a 2-out single. He allowed 10 hits, 3 walks and struck out 3. He has now won 10 of his last 11 starts. French allowed 11 hits (5 in the 9th inning), 1 walk and struck out 1. At bat, he had a hit and a walk. 3B Adonis Warren (37-5.1) had 2 hits with his 3rd home run of the year, scored twice and had 2 RBIs.
