My opinion cuz I don't like lots of minors either

Reserves rosters have a few problems. First is you need high limit 40+ or unlimited to not have ai release guys. But then all are classified as on the same team and you run out of jersey numbers fast. The players develop fine except in player position. If the come in w a 140 rating at third base they get no further experience which is not good w young players.

My suggestion.
If you have rookies come in at 20+ years old 1 minor league is fine. Make it aa and all players get decent time. If you want younger drafts go 2 minors AA and A. Players develop fine and w only 2 ml they easily fit on your main transaction screen.
