LF Ben Smith (26-6.7) has come down sick from something he ate and cannot play today and will probably miss tomorrow too. What a time for such nonsense! Why couldn't he wait 2 days until Indianapolis came to town?

Anderson allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 5.

Wood gave us 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6.

We made 1 error and Boston made 3.

LF Joe Kraus (29-7.9) hit a home run, his 3rd of the season. 1B Sam Cowan (30-5.1) had 2 hits and scored 2 runs. CF Ben Spencer (25-4.2) did not have any hits or walks, but reached on errors twice and scored 2 runs.

For Boston, manager/1B Pete Bucolo had 2 hits with a double and a walk and scored a run.

Liberty League:
New York (2) at Cleveland (3): Bill Henrichs (27-7.4) (3-4) over Jack Roberts (34-6.1) (11-7). Henrichs allowed 11 hits, 2 walks and struck out 7. Roberts allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 6. LF John Bradbury (25-7.6) had 2 hits with a triple, stole a base, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. So he either scored or knocked in every Cleveland run. The Spiders have now won 5 in a row.

Indianapolis (3) at Philadelphia (6): Gene Rankins (29-5.4) (4-4) over Levi Giddens (34-4.8) (2-11). Rankins allowed 6 hits, no walks and struck out 4. At bat, he had a hit. He has now won 4 starts in a row. Giddens allowed 11 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. At bat, he hit a triple and scored a run. 3B Jim Hodzic (35-7.0) had 3 hits, stole a base, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs.

Rochester (4) at Cincinnati (9): Bert Fischer (25-5.6) (8-6) over Bill Henson (29-6.5) (6-12). Fischer allowed 9 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5. 2B Jumbo Lynn (26-3.8) 3 hits with a triple, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. RF Fleet Wilcox (29-4.9) only had 1 single and a walk, but scored a run and had 4 RBIs. LF Joe Turner (26-6.6_ hits a double and his 4th home run of the year. For the Jingoes, 1B Pete Hinde (30-7.9) had 3 hits with a triple, scored 3 runs and had an RBI.

Grand National Association:
Providence (7) at Pittsburgh (5): Tom Blomberg (28-4.7) (11-12) over Whitey Mathews (23-4.1) (13-12). The Grays sweep the Stogies in the 3 game series. Blomberg allowed 8 hits, 3 walks and struck out 3. At bat, he had 2 hits with a triple and 2 RBIs. Mathews allowed 9 hits, 4 walks and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit and scored a run. Rookie LF Sy Cullum (23-5.9) had 2 hits with a double and 2 walks, stole 3 bases, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. C John Whelan (25-4.6) hit 2 triples, scored a run and had 2 RBIs.

Baltimore (7) at Brooklyn (5) in 10 innings: Tom Wilmarth (26-5.4) (8-15) over John Ritch (31-7.8) (11-4). In 9 innings, Wilmarth allowed 5 hits, 4 walks and struck out 6. At bat, he had a hit and 2 RBIs. Sammy O'Quinn (24-5.9) pitched the bottom of the 10th and loaded the bases up before getting the final out to preserve the win. LF Dick Fitts (29-7.1) had 3 hits with a double, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.

Milwaukee (2) at Omaha (3): Lee Sprague (26-3.5) (5-3) over Dan Burton (31-4.9) (14-9). Sprague allowed 8 hits, no walks and struck out 7. At bat, he had a hit. He won his 5th in a row. Burton allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 5. 1B Tom Anglin (33-5.6) had 2 hits with a triple and scored a run. The Mutuals have won 6 in a row.
