The Keystone Baseball League - A Solo Draft Project (Non-OOTP)

THE KEYSTONE BASEBALL LEAGUE - A SOLO DRAFT PROJECT (NON-OOTP)

Hey guys, after asking around a little bit and making sure I would be allowed to post this thread, I have decided to announce my first "dynasty" project on these forums, but it is not OOTP. It will be using the basic C&D version of a different baseball game. If anyone is curious, feel free to send me a personal message, I will keep the name out just in case it leads to problems down the road. The following will be what the project is all about:

"The Keystone Baseball League - A Solo Draft Project" is a six-team league based in the Keystone State; Pennsylvania. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and have lived here for all my life (20 years to be exact). I thought it would be cool to create a fictional league based in the state I live in using players from the Hall of Fame, well-known players on the verge of being in the Hall, and some of the best Negro Leaguers of all time.

Each team in the league is from a city, town, or general area in Pennsylvania and I have decided to start out with an Original Six as you might say and then as the league forms its own history, possibly expand, maybe even double in size after so many seasons. Every team taking part in the KBL (I will often abbreviate the Keystone Baseball League with that acronym) will play the other five teams in the league four times (2 home, 2 away) for a total of 20 ballgames. I wanted to keep this project short and sweet, as I want to form a league history pretty quickly. Here are some particulars:

Rosters will be fairly small because of the super-short 20-game season. Each team will roster 15 total players. (9 pisition players and six pitchers). Because of the short rosters, I will allow each starting batter to play every game. You will see why I do this below. Also, there will be a DH and no injuries. There will be four starters, a long man, and a closer.

All six teams will make the playoffs after the end of the season with the top two teams receiving first-round byes. The first round will be a do-or-die game like the wildcard game is in the Major leagues today (I really like it, I may be in the minority but it puts more on winning in the regular season). The Semi-finals will be a best-off three, and then the Keystone Series will also be a best-of-three with the winner taking home the Keystone Cup.

So how exactly will this be a solo draft project? Easy. The six original franchises will draft 15 players (9 position players and six pitchers) to start. Then after each season there will be an injury draft. When players are injured during the course of the season they will not be removed from the game, however, their name will be written down on the injury sheet. After the season is over, teams will look at their injury chart and select who they will send into the draft. Each team will send three players into the draft (two position players and one pitcher).

This system mimics me having to decide on trades and contracts and really lets the players play and see where they end up. Now let's say Team A has just one position player get hurt, that player must go into the draft, but they can select what other player gets to go into the draft. So say you have a weaker hitter, you'd want to send him because you can try getting someone better in the draft. If anyone following needs me to explain this any better I will try my best to.

After the season is over the injury draft will be held, with the last place team picking first and the Keystone Cup winner selecting last. This should shake the teams up a little bit, but not too much as each team will still have their starting foundation. But as the years go on in this fantasy universe, it will be cool to watch leaders, record books, and franchise histories be born.

Here are the six teams competing (to start at least) in the Keystone Baseball League:

York White Roses
Lancaster Red Roses
Scranton Electrics
Harrisburg Senators
Allentown Fleetwings
Bethlehem Steelers

PREVIOUS RESULTS
Season 1 - York defeats Allentown 2-1
Season 2 - Bethlehem defeats Lancaster 2-1

I will be releasing the Season 3 rosters in the coming posts and then open playing Season 3 tomorrow. Hope you guys enjoy following along even though this is a non-OOTP dynasty. Special thanks to Knuckler for the outstanding logos.
