My problem with the one-pitch mode
The one-pitch mode might save some time, but IMHO it takes away some of the realism and strategy from a baseball game. For instance, taking pitches and throwing to first or laying down a bunt for a hit or sacrifice. And, really, how long does it take to play an OOTP game on PBP mode? 15-20 minutes?
I prefer to play my OOTP games as close to real-life baseball as possible. And this game has taught me so much in terms of strategy from things that I've learned on my own to the countless contributions and suggestions I've received from so many of you on these forums. One example is knowing when and where to steal a base. I used to be a lot more aggressive and careless about stealing bases. As a result, my runners got thrown out a lot and my stolen base success rate was embarrassing. Then I started paying closer attention to the pitch-by-pitch screen and where the last pitch was thrown, how fast was it and I kept track on the pitch counts. All of these things factored into my strategy as well as the catcher's arm behind home plate and the pitcher's rating at holding runners.
Simply put, I would recommend not using the one-pitch mode unless it's a blowout and you're up 10-0. Great game as always!
