1st August 1885

The fans of the Louisville Colonels saw their team give every effot to close the gap on the leaders in the pennant chase. The issue was they just didn't have enough to get the gap closed. The team managed to claim 17 wins from the July games while losing 12. This has left them 8 games behind the leaders in second place in the AL. With only 8 games left it is unlikely they will be winning the pennant.

Series results
0-4 on the road to the Philadelphia Athletics
1-1 at home to the Detroit Wolverines
2-0 at home to the Washington Nationals
1-2 at home to the Baltimore Orioles
1-1 on the road to the Cleveland Blues
4-0 on the road to the Boston Americans
3-0 on the road to the Chicago White Sox
3-1 on the road to the Washington Nationals
2-1 at home to the Baltimore Orioles
0-2 to start the series against the Detroit Wolverines

John Fox returned from injury during the month

This months star is pitcher Old Hoss Radbourn. Radbourn managed to win 9 games from his 14 games started. He pitched 115.1 innings and gave up 106 hits and 22 earned runs for an ERA of 1.72

The other strange thing was that the AL voters decided to give Centre Fielder George Gore the AL Batter of the Month award. We are not sure why as he only had an average of .255 from his 27 games.
