The fans of the White Stockings were happy to see their favourites gain their form back in July. The team picked up 16 wins while giving up 11 losses. The team moved into 3rd spot in the NL table, 7 games behind the leaders. This still leaves them with a chance of the pennant but only with the help from other teams.

The injury news was not good for the White Stockings during July. They lost Second Baseman Gid Gardner mid month with a torn thumb ligamen. He missed 2 weeks of the month. First Baseman Milt Scott saw his season ended mid July after picking up shoulder inflammation. He will be out for between 4 and 5 weeks. The final player to suffer an injury was Right Fielder Fred Lewis. Lewis suffered a ruptured finger tendon that ended his season. He will be out for 4 months.

Short Stop Jack Glasscock's season continued to show strong form as he had another good month in July. He picked up 36 hits from 117 at bats in 27 games. He scored 27 runs and 20 RBI's for an average of .308 for the month.
