The Carolina Knights were picking 24th in the first round and we were just looking for the best available player. Our scouting director wanted us to pick SP Elroy Fowler, but he was starting pitcher in name only. The top ten pitchers looked like relievers at best to me, so our debate was between shortstop Jeff Anderson and starting pitcher Harold Grimes.

We decided to go with Harold Grimes because he was a college player, would be easier to sign, and was looking for a slot bonus. In the second round we went with closer Tom Cooper and rounded out the top five with SP Mark Hart, 1B Frank Hamilton, and CF Albert McNee.

On the field the Knights are off to a rough 7-6 start for the month, although our lead is still 7 1/2 games over the Rangers.
