I have never tried it because while the talent level in my team is rather shallow and all swampy, I still have to somehow avoid 100 losses with the marginal replacement level personnel that I have, but would it be possible to place players on revocable waivers without DFA, then see who claims them, since revocable waivers obviously do work in the game if you work out the trade first.

I have this right-handed reliever that is blocking a roster spot, makes a lot of money, has melted down recently, and will be a free agent without compensation.....
