The team traded 29 year old pitcher Ernie Hickman to the Philadelphia Athletics in exchange for 30 year old short stop John Richmond and 19 year old minor league catcher Ed Gastfield.
The teams solid performance in June was down to some excellent mound work from the pitchers. The top pitcher in June was Bill Wise. Wise managed to win 8 games from his 13 starts. He pitched 109.1 innings and gave up 88 hits and 15 earned runs. This saw him claim an ERA of 1.23 which was good enough to see him made the NL Pitcher of the Month for June.
