A good idea that needs to be worked on
I know things in this topic have been mentioned, but I guess I'm just getting annoyed because it's an excellent idea that was not properly implemented in the game.
I'm talking about "owner goals". Great idea and real life. However, there are way too many holes in it. Stupid (sorry, no better word) comments from the owner. Sign so-and-so to an extension. Excuse me, he's a bum and has been sitting the minors.
Sign so-and-so to an extension. It will cost you more than 30% of your budgeted payroll, but do it so I can complain later that you've gone over budget.
Sign that home-town player (whomever it is). Am I supposed to scan the database looking for someone born in Denver?
Nice try but sorry you didn't win. Excuse me, are there no papers where you live? We won.
Acquire an MVP player. Sure, I'm sure I can get one for a song who won't cost me anything so you can't complain I'm spending to much.
Get me a top-5 first baseman (or whatever). What is a top-5 first baseman? My criteria might be a little different from yours.
Improve your defensive efficiency. Where do I see where I rate because I have no idea.
Improve your bullpen ranking. Is there a place to look or do I have to figure out the ERA for all bullpens and see where I am?
Those are just a few to get you on your way. Don't scrap this idea because it's good. But as we used to say in the software business, we want a Cadillac and not a Chevy. (I don't think Cadillac stands for the cream of the crop anymore).
Don't scrap this, just work on it so that it's an enjoyable, challenging and not silly feature of this game.
There you go. Constructive criticism, I hope.
Thanks.
