George Banks 1962
One of the game's more tragic figures - a top minor league slugger buried in the Yankees' system (four seasons of 25 or more HR in an 11-year career), picked by Minnesota in the 1962 Rule V draft, and then infamously sought by Cleveland. They gave up Jim (Mudcat) Grant to get Banks and Lee Stange in 1964. Grant would win more games for the AL Champion Twins in 1965 (21) than Banks would ever play in a Cleveland uniform (17). Banks was just 46 when he succumbed to ALS in 1985.
