1993-94 Offseason News and Notes
I have no idea why it’s showing
Florida with the 1
st pick, and
SF with the 3
rd, but that’s incorrect. Despite what it says,
SF picked
Alex Rodriguez 1
st overall.
David Ortiz was actually selected by the
Blue Jays, and
Nomar went to
Florida. Weird, but Im just gonna go with it…. All the players went where they were supposed to go when i watched the draft.
Reggie Jackson and
Earl Williams will enter the Hall of Fame together, which seems kind of fitting, since they spent 16 years as teammates in
Atlanta.
Reggie Jackson received 97.2% of votes, while
Williams got 91.2. There’s a 3
rd member who got in, that will be inducted next season. I limit the HOF to two a year.
It’s hard to believe that the
Braves failed to play a postseason game with two Hall of Famers playing together for so long!
MLB has realigned for the 1994 season. Each league is now divided into 3 division. The east, west and the newly formed central divisions. Each division winner will now make the playoffs along with a wild card from each league. The wildcard will be the team with the best record that did not win a divison. I hate this rule acting as the commish in 1994. I love the uniformity of the game, and I guess the old school in me wants to keep things the same, but, I didn’t like divisions when the league switched years ago…. Here is the new divisional setup.
Continuing to take advantage of the games meet the team screen, here is the history of each NL east team. I really like these screens, but forgot to post a division last season.

The
Yankees are starting to flex those money muscles! I had to include
George Bell in there. I haven't covered him to much, but the guy is getting close to being a Hall of Famer, he's had a great career so far.
Here are the trades made during the offseason
