Then fans of the Beaneaters are happier this month as they saw another improvement from their team. The Beaneaters managed to pick up 13 wins along with 12 losses during June. The team still sits in last place in the NL table but have moved closer to the rest of the league. They are 27 games behind the leaders.
They started the month by losing the final game of the road trip to the Cincinnati Red Stockings. They split a road trip 1-1 against the Chicago White Stockings before going 1-3 on the road to the St Louis Browns. They also lost 0-2 on the road to the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The first half of the month finished with a 1-3 home series against the New York Gothams. The All Star break seemed to do the team good as their form picked up after it. They went 3-1 at home to the Philadelphia Quakers and 2-1 on the road to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys. They swept the Chicago White Stockings 4-0 at home and then finished the month with a home win against the Cincinnati Red Stockings.
First Baseman John Reilly was the player to show that the Beaneaters do have some skills. Reilly managed 38 hits from his 110 at bats in 25 games. He scored 22 runs and 17 RBI's for an average of .345.
The following Beaneaters made the NL All Star Squad. They were Pitcher Charlie Hilsey and Left Fielder Abner Dalrymple.
