Minneapolis Millers (34-39 .466 18.5 GB in 7th place in the Grand National Association) at
Omaha Mutuals (53-21 .716 1st place)
Back in Omaha for a 2 game set with manager Tony Green (41-6.3) and his Millers. We are 4-2 against them so far, beating them 2 of 3 here in the middle of July the last time we met. In the 6 games, they have out-scored us 25 to 23. They are 10th in runs scored with 4.9 per game (Omaha is up to #7 with 5.1). They are 9th in runs allowed with 5.7 per game (Omaha is still #1 with 3.6).
We have beaten Moss both times he has faced us this year, but just barely. His ERA is 1.50 against Omaha.

They only had 9 baserunners and scored 6 of them.
We got 8 hits (about half of what we should have against Moss) and made 2 errors. Minneapolis made 6.
2B Felix Hill (25-4.2) had a hit, stole a base and scored 2 runs. 1B Charlie Toner (23-8.7) had 2 hits with his 2nd home run. C Ezra Wall (235.2) hit a double. CF Abe Cupp (23-4.7) had 2 hits.
For the Millers, c Michael Tonnies (38-5.1) hit a double and a triple, scored a run and had an RBI.
Grand National Association Games:
Baltimore (1) at Philadelphia (12): Bill McClean (38-6.0) (22-13) over Levi Giddens (32-4.8) (1-4). McClean allowed 6 hits, no walks and struck out 4. 2B Doc Coe (27-4.7) had 3 hits, stole a base and scored 4 runs. 1B Pat Ross (27-5.4) had 4 hits, scored 3 runs and had 2 RBIs. CF Ben Smith (25-6.7) hit a double and triple and his 2nh home run, missing the cycle by a single, scored 2 runs and had 6 RBIs.
Louisville (3) at Scranton (2): Jake D'Addario (34-5.5) (9-18) over Sam Paul (29-5.4) (11-23). D'Addario allowed 4 hits, walked 1 and struck out 4. Paul allowed 8 hits, no walks and did not strike out any one. RF Willie Rudd (33-5.2) had 3 hits with a double, stole a base and had an RBI. SS Frank Reardon (29-5.7) hit 2 triples and scored 2 runs.
Milwaukee (3) at Chicago (9): John Ritch (29-7.8) (20-22) over Tom Washam (31-6.1) (16-26). Ritch allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. Washam lost his 5th in a row. CF Tommy Casale (24-3.7) hit a double and a triple, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. Manager/LF Candy Simpson (25-6.8) had 2 hits with his 6th home run and 3 RBIs.
Liberty League Games:
Detroit (4) at New York (7): Count Childs (28-3.1) (4-3) over Hank Anderson (31-7.7) (12-7). Childs allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3. 3B Paul Fenner (35-4.6) had 3 hits with a triple and a home run, a walk, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBIs.
Boston (3) at Washington (1): Joe Peters (28-4.9) (20-7) over Dan Burton (29-4.9) (13-16). Peters allowed 2 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5. He won his 13th decision in a row. Burton allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. He is 4-10 in his last 14. LF Val Cornell (26-3.5) had 2 hits, stole a base and scored a run.
Cincinnati (13) at Cleveland (6): Charlie Branham (24-4.2) (25-9) over Willis Kornfield (31-6.0) (7-12). Branham allowed 10 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. The Reds had 19 hits and 7 doubles. CF Fleet Wilcox (27-4.9) had 3 hits with a double and an RBI. 1B Joe Vaughan (29-5.2) had 4 hits with a double and scored 3 runs. RF Joe Turner (24-6.6) had 4 hits with 2 doubles, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. 3B Mike Green (35-6.2) had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs.
Troy (8) at St. Louis (9): Will Taylor (37-7.9) (6-14) over Miah Turner (23-5.3) (9-9). Troy out-hit St. Louis 15 to 9, but made 8 errors. The Maroons scored 3 times in the bottom of the 9th to win. The final blow was a 1-out single by 3B Sam Thompson (36-4.5). For the Haymakers, CF John Confair (30-6.6) had 3 hits, stole 3 bases and scored 2 runs.
