The Chicago Colts fired manager Sammy Farrell (39-6.9) yesterday and gave the job to LF Candy Simpson (25-6.8).

Sprague had the worst game he has ever had as a Mutual. He only went 7 innings, allowed 8 runs, 12 hits, walked 4 (!!) and struck out 1.
We had 10 hits and made 3 errors. The Quakers made 1 error.
LF Dave Cunningham (29-5.4) hit 2 doubles and scored 2 runs. C Charlie LeFevre (30-5.0) hit 2 triples and scored 2 runs. 1B Charlie Toner (23-8.7) extended his hitting streak to 13 games with 3 hits, including a double, scored a run and had 4 RBIs.
For the Quakers, RF Joseph Thomson (32-7.3) had 3 hits, a walk and scored 4 runs. LF Jim Hudson (30-6.2) had 2 hits and became the 2nd opposing player to hit a ball over the fences in our ball park. He had 2 RBIs.
Should I make Tom Lee (26-6.0) the #1 pitcher?
Grand National Association Games:
Chicago (1) at Providence (3): Egyptian Hooker (36-3.9) (12-6) over John Ritch (29-7.8) (19-22). Hooker allowed 7 hits, walked 1 and struck out 6. Ritch allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3. 3B Bill Parsons (26-8.3) had 2 hits, a walk, a stolen base and an RBI.
Brooklyn (3) at Pittsburgh (2): Dick Cole (30-5.9) (17-16) over Frank Parsons (30-5.8) (9-17). Cole allowed 3 hits, no walks and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit and a walk. Parsons allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4. LF Tom Campbell (26-3.6) had 2 hits with a double and an RBI and stole a base.
Baltimore (5) at Minneapolis (3) in 10 innings: Sal DeVaux (29-3.5) (11-14) over Dan Dittmar (35-8.0) (20-15). DeVaux allowed 10 hits, 2 walks and struck out 6. At bat, he had 2 hits with a double, scored a run and knocked in the go-ahead run in the 10th. Dittmar allowed 8 hits, no walks and struck out 5. He had a hit and an RBI. 2B Billy Moore (28-7.0) hit 2 doubles and had an RBI.
Scranton (11) at Kansas City (13): Hosea Alexander (36-4.8) (12-6) over Sam Paul (29-5.4) (11-22). 3B Erve More (25-4.5) had 2 hits, a walk, stole 2 bases, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBIs. C Gene Stone (27-5.4) had 2 hits with a double, scored a run and had 3 RBIs. CF Connie Frenette (29-4.7) had 3 hits, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. For the Miners, RF Andy Fletcher (30-4.6), in his first major league start, had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. SS Marvin Frank (33-4.9) strained a rub muscle and will miss a month or so.
Liberty League Games:
Cincinnati (2) at Cleveland (6): Tom Marshman (33-4.7) (14-18) over John Stevens (27-8.2) (16-17). Marshman allowed 6 hits, walked 2 and struck out 6. As a batter, he had 2 hits and scored a run. He has now won 5 in a row. Stevens has lost 5 of his last 6. RF Joe Coffey (28-5.2) had 3 hits, stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs. 1B Lou Knight (35-5.2) had 3 hits and 3 RBIs.
Detroit (3) at New York (5): Jack Roberts (32-6.1) (21-19) over William McLeod (25-5.6) (6-11). Roberts allowed 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. He has won 8 of his last 10. C Hub West (30-6.7) had 2 hits with a triple and scored a run. LF Jackson Crouse (26-7.6) had 2 hits and an RBI.
Washington (4) at Boston (5): Charlie Morlock (35-6.7) (21-12) over John Callaham (35-5.5) (11-20). Morlock allowed 8 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. RF Charlie Warner (30-9.2) had 2 hits, a walk and scored 3 runs. Manager/1B Pete Bucolo (36-4.1) had 2 hits with a double, stole a base, scored a run and had an RBI.
Troy (4) at St. Louis (3): Harry Lamb (29-6.4) (20-10) over Freddy Wood (28-6.3) (12-16). Lamb went 8 innings, allowed 8 hits, no walks and struck out 4. He was pinch-hit for in the top of the 9th, because the Haymakers were losing 3 to 2 (Although Lamb has the highest batting average on the team and already had 2 hits in the game). But it worked out as PH Henry Newman (30-3.6) singled and Troy scored twice to take the lead. Miah Turner (23-5.3) set the Maroons down in order in the bottom of the 9th to preserve the win. CF Bert Gellis (23-5.5) had 3 hits with a double, stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs.
