Veteran Leadership Improving Ratings

Not sure if this is implemented behind the scenes, but there should be a mechanic whereby having a good veteran presence on a team can act like a secondary coach to improve the ratings of younger players. I'm thinking, for example, of J.D. Martinez's improvement after going to the Tigers, simply from watching Miggy hit; or the veteran leadership of Ortiz, Sandoval, and Ramirez being credited for the improvements Bogaerts has made over the last few months.

No idea if it is feasible, but perhaps something where a veteran's leadership ability and a younger player's teachability interact to improve the younger player? It'd provide an incentive for keeping veterans around even beyond their prime, something for which little incentive exists right now.
