Make sure you have a box check on the upper left like 'Search All Leagues'. If you are looking for hitters click on the Hitters button and maybe start by just searching everyone with the default settings and than slowly add more criteria until you narrow down the list. Don't narrow your search too much right at the beginning. There really aren't all that many catchers batting over .280 with a WAR of 7.0 and Power of 12 for example example.
