WASHINGTON NATIONALS V ST LOUIS CARDINALS (Gio Gonzalez 1-1 v Lance Lynn 0-1)
Neither starter made it to the fifth inning with the score 6-5 to the Cardinals at the end of the fifth. Combined they allowed ten runs and eleven hits in their short outings.
Left to the bullpen the Cardinals' arms held their nerve allowing just one run while the Nationals five RP allowed six further hits and 5 runs to lose the game 11-5.

NOTES:
Two was the magic number - Cardinal and National number two hitters (Mark Reynolds & Ian Desmond) combined for seven hits, five RBI's, five runs and two HR's.
West is the best - Two west coast teams hold the best records in the senior and junior circuits at the moment, Oakland and surprisingly San Diego are both 13-4.
