Found two newspaper articles which imply that he was a Mariners non-roster invitee in 1983 and 1984. The San Bernardino Sun of March 19, 1983 reported that the Mariners sent him to their minor league camp along with others being sent down from Seattle. The Santa Cruz Sentinel of March 16, 1984 indicated that he was being optioned to Salt Lake City by the Mariners.

I don't have any records of his ever appearing on spring training rosters.
