The City of New York has gained it's second MLB baseball team as a franchise was positioned in the city. The newly formed team is called the New York Gothams and they will be playing their home games in the newly built Polo Grounds stadium.
The person entrusted with owning this team is Mr. Francis Allen. Allen is one of these new industrialists from Florida who are building a business around import and export links with the Caribbean Islands. He is said to be very understanding of his employees struggles and will give them all the time to get things right. While he may give them the time his is still one to count the cents to make sure he is getting his moneys worth from his employees.
He currently runs the club himself but we here at the Sentinel understand an appointment of GM is not too far away. Martin Rios has been hired as the manager. He has very little experience but will make up for that in enthusiasm.
The team picked up 23 players in the expansion draft. The most highly regarded arrivals included First Baseman Jim Clinton from the Cincinnati Red Stockings, Catcher Whitey Ritterson from the Brooklyn Atlantics and Pitcher Joe McDermott from the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The full draft list is shown below.
Extra players will be selected from the First Year Player Draft. We will bring you all the news from this draft once it is complete.
