The new team in the AL from Boston are called the Americans. We here at the Herald have decided to support this team in opposition to our rival news paper the Chronicle who support the Red Caps.
The new Americans team franchise has been awarded to 58 year old New York Banker Robert Rivers. Being in banking, Mr Rivers knows the value of money and how to look after it by keeping the purse strings pulled tight. He also expects a lot from his employees with the cash he does allow to be spent. Mr Rivers is currently running the club himself but is looking for a new GM to handle the day to day running of the club.
The inexperienced 53 year old David James has been hired as the teams new Manager and it is hoped he will have the know how to bring some success to the club long term.
The team will be playing their games at the newly developed Huntington Avenue Grounds here in Boston. The ground has been sited right next door to the Boston Red Caps South End Grounds stadium so should be easy to find.
The players that will be starting the year in the Americans Jersey will include the following 23 who were all selected in the Expansion Draft. Notable selections include First Baseman Steve Brady from the Champion Chicago White Stockings, Short Stop Davy Force and Second Baseman Tim Murnane both from local city rivals the Boston Red Caps.
These players will be augmented by selections from the First year player draft. We will bring you all that news once it has been completed.
