Think of it this way: a player in your league wins a Gold Glove. You, as the OOTP player - not your in-game persona - unlock the "Great Glove" achievement for having a player win a Gold Glove.

I did not know that the "Achievements Screen" was Global. Wouldn't it make sense to make that editable for the Game Player? To me, it just looks silly when that "Great Glove" (and the other pre-edited Award Names) come up. I never individually check any of my players before, I just figured changing those Awards did no good, or I was doing something incorrectly.
As for your "unlock" explanation, it makes sense game-wise, but I'd still rather NOT have it, since THAT is the big Splash Screen that announces it.
To me, it is like having Manfred announce that Jackie Bradley won the Great Glove Award and Jackie's plaque reads "Gold Glove".
This is just nitpicking, but I think it would be nice to be able to change it.
