I started a game in manager-only mode, choosing as my team the Brisbane Bandits in the Australian League. At first, the club didn't have a general manager, and it showed in the AI's bumbling negotiations with free agents. Then the owner hired a guy "generally known as a reliable, competent executive".
I don't know about his competence in building a team, but he's obviously great at building his personal wealth, viz., his salary is $5,000,000 a year. Not surprisingly, that leaves Brisbane broke. Money available for free agents is minus $4,917,070!
