The fans of the Orioles sat in the stand with glum looks during most of August as they saw their team lose form. The team picked up only 5 wins along with 9 losses during the month of August. This has seen them drop a place in the AL table down to 3rd. They now sit 7 games behind the leading Blues.

The batting picked up a solid 68 runs during the month. Left Fielder Dan Brouthers was again the best of the batters. Brouthers started all 14 games and and picked up 17 hits from 57 at bats. He managed to score 11 runs and 12 RBI's for an average of .298.

The pitching had a very tough month during August. The best of the starters was Stump Wiedman. Wiedman started 7 games but only picked up 2 wins from 52 innings pitched. He gave up 59 hits and 19 earned runs. His ERA for the month was 3.29. The team gave up 86 runs during the month.
