The White Stockings continued with their excellent form as their fans saw the gap widen again in the race for the Pennant. The team picked up 8 wins from the 12 games played. They are now 4 games clear at the top of the NL table.

The pitching had a mixed month from the mound. The best of the starters was once again the Rookie Bill McGunnigle. McGunnigle started 5 games with 46 inning spitched to pick up 4 wins. He gave up 42 hits and only 9 earned runs for an ERA of 1.76. This earned him the NL Rookie of the Month award. The team gave up a total of 67 runs

The batting went on another run spree with 83 runs scored. Though this time it was less spread put and more in only certain games. The batter that produced the best form was Second Baseman Jack Burdock. Burdock started 9 games and had 36 at bats. These at bats produced 12 hits for an average of .333. He also scored 8 runs and 11 RBI's.

Lost pitcher Harry Arundel to the Baltimore Orioles off of waivers.

The team saw the following players voted into the NL All Star Squad. Pitchers Jim Britt, Harry Arundel, Bill McGunnigle, Harry Salisbury and Charles Witherow, Catcher Ned Williamson, First Baseman Deacon White, Third Baseman Ezra Sutton, Short Stop Jack Glasscock, Centre Fielders Holly Hollingshead and Pete Hotaling and Right Fielder Harry Stovey

The players to start in the NL's 4-5 loss were Pete Hotaling and Deacon White
