The Boston Red Caps poor season continued in June to leave the fans frustrated. The team picked up only 5 wins from the 14 games played. This has left them in 3rd place in the AL table 11 games behind the leading White Stockings
The battings struggles continued in June as they posted only 48 runs in total. The best batter for the month was Catcher Lew Brown. Brown started all 14 games and came to the plate 57 times. These plate appearances saw him hit the ball 17 times to score 7 runs and 8 RBI's for an average of .298.
The pitching tried it's hardest but couldn't counter the lack of runs from the bat. The best of the pitching came from Tommy Bond. Bond started 7 games and picked up 3 wins from 63 innings pitched. He gave up 53 hits and 13 earned runs for an ERA of 1.86. The team gave up a total of 60 runs.
Claimed Second Baseman Davey Force from the Brooklyn Atlantics off waivers.
Traded 30 year old Third Baseman Ezra Sutton and 24 year old minor league Second Baseman Bill Fouser to the Chicago White Stockings in exchange for 31 year old Right Fielder Clipper Flynn. The fans are sad to see Sutton go as he has been a mainstay of the side since the start. The fans are also not sure Clipper Flynn is exactly what the team needs as a replacement.
