The White Stockings had an average month during August to see the leaders edge further away from them. The fans are hoping they have another super September like last year to close the gap. The team picked up 7 wins and 7 losses during August. They now sit in 2nd place in the NL table, 6 games behind the leaders.

The batting form took a dip in August as the team managed only 61 runs. The player with the best figures during the month was Second Baseman Jack Burdock.
