PREDATORS 2022 NHL ENTRY DRAFT

1st round, 3rd overall
Pick: Brandon Willows, RW, Right, 5’11 172, Brandon
Boxcars: 72GP 32-19-51 (WHL)

Description: Small, cerebral winger from British Columbia. Possessing sick hands, a great shot and a responsible two way-game, it easy to see Willows as a future first liner or even all-star. Phenomenal with the puck on his stick, can make the best defenders look silly. Has an accurate shot, but could work on its power. Shows great decision making in both ends of the ice. Sometimes struggles to find the open spaces on the ice. Sometimes struggles to make the simple passes. Is a good skater, has good top end speed and an explosive first few steps. Still needs to work on his edge work. Is a great one on one defender. Will frustrate his opponents by breaking up plays. Displays pretty good positional awareness in his own end. Below average physical game. Needs to go to the dirty areas of the ice more often.

Best case scenario: All-star winger
Worst case scenario: 2nd-3rd line winger

2nd round, 33rd overall
Pick: Vaclav Danek, RW, Left, 6’0 160, Donbass
Boxcars: 43GP 8-11-19 (KHL)

Description: Small, raw offensive minded winger from the Czech Republic. With great hands and fluent skating, Danek has the potential to be a top six winger but he will need to put a lot of work into his defensive game first. Great with the puck on his stick, can keep the puck away from defenders. Great shot – heavy and accurate. Reads the play well in his own end. Is a decent passer. Projects to be an above average skater at the NHL level. Won’t blow you away with his speed, but has good agility and balance. Below average one on one defender. Poor physical game which is hurt further by his lack of strength. Looks lost at times in his own zone. Needs to go to the dirty areas of the ice more often.

Best case scenario: 1st-2nd line winger
Worst case scenario: Career ECHLer

2nd round, 59th overall
Pick: Joachim Bergman, LW, Left, 6’2 153, Brynas IF
Boxcars: 52GP 10-15-25 (ALL)

Description: Tall, lanky offensive minded winger from Sweden. Bergman is a fluent skater with great offensive skills, but there are concerns over his defensive game and upside. Great with the puck on his stick, can make defenders look silly. Great upside as a playmaker, has great passing ability and sees the ice well. Excels at working the area in front of the goalie. Is a strong skater, has good speed, agility, and balance. Below average one on one defender. Has an active stick in his own zone and uses his long reach well. Below average physical game. Sometimes appears lost in the defensive zone. Is in peak physical condition and will not tire.

Best case scenario: 2nd-3rd line winger
Worst case scenario: AHL-NHL tweener

3rd round, 63rd overall
Pick: Rodrigue Lutz, LD, Left, 6’4 176, Vancouver
Boxcars: 61GP 7-25-32 (WHL)

Description: Tall, lanky all round defenseman from Russia. With good offensive zone instincts and a solid defensive game Lutz has the potential to be an NHL regular if he puts it together. Very good vision and puck skills make his potential as a playmaking defenseman high. Decent shot but has trouble finding the open areas of the ice. Projects to be a touch below average as a skater. Good one on one defender, but will struggle with some of the faster and stronger guys in the NHL. Uses his reach well and frusturates his opponents with his ability to break up plays. Needs to play physical more often. Sometimes struggles to read the play properly.

Best case scenario: #4-5 defenseman
Worst case scenario: Career AHLer

4th round, 93rd overall
Pick: Kamil Torchenyuk, LD, Left, 6’1 202, Crystall
Boxcars: 45GP 5-10-15 (VHL)

Description: Well developed, offensive minded defenseman from Russia. Possessing good instincts in the offensive zone and a decent enough defensive game, Torchenyuk has the potential to be a regular in the NHL but concerns over his skating and upside remain. Effective at moving the puck and sees the ice well. Has a bomb for a shot, should be a mainstay on the powerplay. Is a good one on one defender, but below average foot speed will mean faster players will give him fits at the next level. Below average physical game. Positions himself well in his own end. Has trouble sensing danger and will get caught pinching from time to time. Needs to engage physically along the boards more often. Projects to be a below average skater at the next level. Needs to get stronger.

Best case scenario: #4-5 defenseman
Worst case scenario: Career AHLer

5th round, 123rd overall
Pick: Simon Jonsson, LD, Left, 6’2 178, Leksands IF
Boxcars: 52GP 0-2-2 (ALL)

Description: Tall, lanky all-round defenseman from Sweden. Jonsson has a big body to grow into and has shown flashes of brilliance on both sides of the puck but is a long way from putting everything toghether. Is very good with the puck on his stick for a defenseman. Should be effective at carrying the puck. Is a decent passer, but below average vision hurt his offensive upside. Possesses an average shot. Very good one on one defender. Average physical game. Sometimes looks lost in his own end. Displays poor decision making in his own end from time to time. Has an active stick in the defensive zone and uses his long reach well. Projects to be an average skater at the NHL level. Is in good physical shape.

Best case scenario: 3rd pairing defenseman
Worst case scenario: AHL-ECHL tweener

6th round, 153rd overall

Pick: Ali Sivertson, C, Left, 6’4 204, North Bay
Boxcars: 62GP 3-8-11 (OHL)

Description: Big, raw, defensive minded center from Ontario. With his size and defensive acumen, Sivertson may have a future in the bottom six some day but he needs to develop his offensive game first. Is a wizard in the faceoff circle. Despite his size, plays a poor physical game. Uses his stick well in the defensive zone. Sometimes looks lost in the defensive end. Has good instincts, and rarely gets caught in the offensive zone. Decent one on one defender. Limited offensive upside – has below average vision and passing skills. Average shot. Is decent at working the area in front of the goalie. Struggles to find the open areas of the ice. Projects to be a below average skater at the NHL level. Should have average speed, but clunky edgework and poor acceleration will hamper his skating.

Best case scenario: 3rd line center
Worst case scenario: Never reaches pro level

7th round, 183rd overall

Pick: Lukas Dekan, LW, Left, 6’2 202, Pardubice
Boxcars: 46GP 4-3-7 (ELH)

Description: Big, all-round winger from the Czech Republic. With his combination of offensive and defensive skills, Dekan could be a NHL regular some day, but he needs to improve his poor skating first. Very good passer, but below average vision limit his upside as a playmaker. Has a very good shot, accurate and hard. Excels at working the area in front of the goalie. Struggles to find the open areas of the ice. Below average one on one defender. Positions himself well in the defensive zone. Is good at sensing danger and is usually the first one back on the backcheck. Is in good physical condition. Below average physical game. Projects to be a below average skater at the NHL level. Should have decent speed, but poor edgework will hamper his skating ability.

Best case scenario: 3rd line winger
Worst case scenario: AHL-ECHL tweener
