I'm attempting to hash out a fictional 19th century league--and being incredibly detail-obsessed as one is want to do--and have run into a tiny bit of weirdness; I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than myself will be able to either give me a definitive "yeah, that's just what's going to happen" or be able to point me towards a way around it. I attempted to search for it, but it's such a specific question that I wasn't able to find anything particularly relevant.
In keeping with historical accuracy, between 1871 and 1872 in the National Association 3 teams fold/go on hiatus (Fort Wayne, Rockford and Chicago) and 5 teams get added (two Brooklyns, Baltimore, Middletown and Washington).
I've attempted to add those new teams at three separate times (the day after the season's end, on January 1st of the following year, and on the first day of the follow pre-season), yet no matter when I add them the history of the league shows their existence beginning in 1871 rather than 1872.
My need for things to stay is compelling me to try and find a solution to this quirk; obviously, it's not the end of the world if there's no way around it, I'm just hopeful that the fine minds of the board could help a guy out in his quest towards historical pseudo-accuracy.
