Game 11 vs. Anaheim
The Ducks came to Philly for what turned out to be a hard hitting, low scoring night as it took the Flyers top line 38 minutes to connect for the first goal of the game, they were able to again connect for a goal 44 minutes into the game. The Duck’s top unit was able to fend of the shutout, but with only 5 minutes left in the game the Flyers defense was able to close out the contest for the Flyer’s 5th straight win as they took their record from 2-4-0 to 7-4-0.
The addition of
Wayne Simmonds to the front line has paid dividends for
Claude Giroux and
Jakub Voracek as the two are on 7 game point streaks; 1G-7A-8P and 7G-2A-9P respectively. Including
Simmonds numbers the line is 9-15-24 in those seven games. The recent surge gives
Voracek and
Giroux 12 points in the first 11 games, as
Simmonds, Hartnell, and
Couturier are all sitting with a point per game. In a recent interview
Jason Akeson had this to say, “I am really lucky to be given the chance to play with the top five guys on this team. You can usually count on one of them to score at any given moment, so it’s just really exciting to be out on the ice because you never know what’s going to happen. I’m just trying my best to keep up with them and keep my stick on the ice.”
