The fans of the White Stockings still have hope that their team can win a surprising pennant from the Boston Red Caps. The team picked up an amazing 8 wins out of 8 in September. This saw them move to within 3 games of the Red Caps in the NL table. They now need to win their remaining 4 games and hope that the Red Caps lose at least 3 of their 4 games.

Jim Britt joined an exclusive club all his own this month as he pitched his 200th win in the MLB. Britt told reporters after the game ' Now I got to get busy – and start working on my next 200 wins.'

Jim Britt had an excellent month from the mound. He started all 8 games and pitched 73 innings. He saw 59 hits and 8 eraned runs against him for an ERA of 0.99. These great figures saw him voted the NL Pitcher of the Month. The team gave up only 20 runs all month.

The batting was solid all month as they scored 45 runs. The star with the hot bat was Catcher Deacon White. White saw 33 at bats in his 8 game starts. From these starts he saw 17hits along with 8 runs and 4 RBI's. This saw him post and average of .515. He earned the NL Batter of the Month with these figures.

The White Stockings started the month with a 3-0 sweep of the Cincinnati Reds 7-1, 7-4 and 4-0
They then swept the Brooklyn Atlantics 3-0. Score were 3-1, 9-8 and 5-4
They finished with 2 wins against the Boston Red Caps 6-1 and 4-1

The team face 4 extremely important games in October. We will bring you how they get on along with a full season review once they have been played
