The Red Caps fans are extremely anxious about their position at the top of the NL table. The team saw a tough month finish with 5 wins and 3 losses. This left them 3 games clear of the Chicago White Stockings. The team need to win 2 of their final 4 games to take the pennant.

The batting produced only 37 runs during the month as they struggled in some games. The star batter continued to be Short Stop Jimmy Hallinan. Hallinan started all 8 games and produced 14 hits from 35 plate appearances. This earned him a .400 average along with 6 runs and 2 RBI's.

Cathcer Lew Brown picked up the NL Rookie of the Month awarding

The pitching was a mix of 2 starters. Terry Larkin played the first 5 games of the month and pitched 43.2 innings for an ERA of 2.06 with 10 earned runs against him. Tommy Bond started 3 games after his return from injury. He pitched 24 innings for an ERA of 4.50 with 12 earned runs against him. The team gave up a total of 40 runs.

Tommy Bond returned from injury mid month and Levi Meyerle missed the second half of the month with Quadricep soreness.
