1st October 1877

The Orioles finally gave up on the season in September and left their fans hoping they will not finish bottom. The team picked up 3 wins and 6 losses during the month to drop to 3rd in the AL table. They sit only half a game above the bottom placed Cleveland Blues.

The only thing that kept the team in the games for as long as they were was the pitching. Cherokee Fisher started 8 of the games and pitched 69 innings for 61 hits and 19 earned runs against him. This gave him an ERA of 2.48. The team gave up a total of 44 runs.

The batting again struggled as they claimed 39 runs. The best batter in a sea of poor form was Left Fielder Lip Pike. Pike played all 9 games but only picked up 9 hits from 36 at bats. He picked up 5 runs and 2 RBI's on his way to a poor .250 average.

Charlie Hautz returned from injury at the end of September
