ANA - 2 TOR - 1 The Maple Leafs scored first on LW James Van Riemsdyk (8.0d/8.5d)ES goal, but let the tying goal in late in the third period to LW Patrick Maroon (6.5c/6.5c). The Ducks settled the game in OT with D Francois Beauchemin (8.0c/8.0c) blasting in a shot off the faceoff.
EDM - 3 MON - 4 This seasons “Battle for Canada” continues as the hometown Habs stayed one goal ahead of the Oilers with LW Max Pacioretty (8.0c/8.0c) having a three point night (2G/1A) and both teams combining for an amazing 77 shots on goal at the sold out Bell Centre
WAS - 1 WPG - 5 The Jets got back on track facing the Capitals at home. D Jay Harrison (7.0b/7.5b) scored and had an assist to go along with a strong defensive performance, and G Ondrej Pavelec (7.0d/7.0d) bore down to stop 32 of 33 shots for his second win of the season.
VAN - 3 NYI - 2 The 4-5-1 Canucks visited the 2-7 Islanders with both teams needing the points. The visitors prevailed and evened their record. RW David Booth (6.5d/6.5d) was +2 with two assists on the evening and earned the game’s First Star.
CAL - 0 ARZ - 1 The Flames came into tonight’s contest riding a three game winning streak on the teams West Coast visit to Jobing.com Arena. They were stoned by a red hot G Mike Smith (8.0c/8.0c) who stopped all 29 shots he faced. RW David Moss’ (7.5b/7.5b) first period ES tally was all Arizona needed for the win.
NJD - 0 CLB - 4 The Blue Jackets put on a hockey clinic at Nationwide Arena defeating the Devils in a game that both teams claimed to need to help climb back to .500 on the season. LW Nick Foligno (7.5c/7.5c) scored twice and had an assist and line mate C Brandon Dubinsky (7.5d/7.5d) had three assists in the win.
NAS - 2 MIN - 5 C Mikael Granlund (7.5a/8.0a) was easily the First Star of the game after getting four assists and making some highlight reel plays. Linemate LW Zach Parise (8.5c/8.5c) also had a four point night (2G/2A).
In other NHL news;
DET - C Luke Glendening reportedly left practice after getting hit in the bare hand by an errant puck. No timetable on the injury and no report as of press time.
DAL - D Trevor Daley left practice with an undisclosed upper body injury, no visible injury was seen in practice, just Daley approaching the bench and after a short conversation with the trainer both left the rink for the locker room.
