The fans of the Athletics were not expecting any bad news to come out of the owners office for this year and were happy to see that it was only good news that came out. GM Luis Garcia was awarded for last seasons pennant with a 1 year contract extension to his current deal.

On the playing front their was news that minor leaguer George Popplein decided that at 33 his career was not going anywhere and his future lie away from baseball. In his time with the Philadelphia Athletics he played 8 games MLB squad and have 1 at bat. (real life stats saw him have 1 game with 4 at bats).

Manager Bill Lee picked up the Manager of the Year award.

The award season was very busy for some of the Philadelphia players. Pitcher Dick McBride and Catcher Doug Allison were both voted onto the AL Defensive team of the year. They both picked up Golden Glove Awards.

John Peters was awarded the Batter of the Year award after a solid second season in the league.

The team participated in the first year draft and selected 4 players. They chose to go for a pitcher in the first round as they selected Dory Dean. The full draft log is below
