The fans of the Brown Stockings are extremely frustrated at the end of a second season where the team didn't produce what the fans know they can produce. The batting again had its dips in form and this left the team finishing in second place with only average ball being played. The fans will be looking at the changes that can be made in the off season to see if the improvements can be made.
The team finished the season with a 2-3 loss to the Philadelphia Athletics and a 2-1 series win against the Cleveland Blues. 6-7, 3-2 and 8-7
The players that have managed to keep their form together through the season were Pitcher George Zettlein and Third Baseman Harry Schafer.
Starting Pitcher George Zettlein has been the go to pitcher for the Brown Stockings for all 5 seasons so far. This year saw another solid performance by him as he posted an ERA of 2.62 from 425.1 innings pitched in 56 game starts.
Harry Schafer has been with the Brown Stockings for 5 seasons and has always been a regular starter for the club. This season he played 58 games including 54 starts. These games saw him come to the plate 254 times and put bat to ball on 75 of these occasions. This gave him an average of .295, the best of his career so far.
