The fans of the Athletics are finally celebrating the AL pennant they craved. The team have been close on more than one occasion in the last four seasons but have finally managed to top the AL table at the fifth time of asking. They did this on the back of some excellent batting and pitching during the season. They will next face the strongly fancied Chicago White Stockings. The fans of the Athletics are hoping they can spring a surprise and win the MLB Championship Series.
The team finished the season with a 3-2 win against the St. Louis Brown Stockings and a 2-1 series win against the Baltimore Orioles. 6-5, 2-1 and 2-12

5 year starter Dick McBride had a career year in 1875. He started 56 games and pitched 443.2 innings. This work load saw him pick up an ERA of 1.97. These figures could very easily see him pick up the AL pitcher of the year award. We will find out at the Awards dinner in late November
