8th October 1875

The Reds fans saw another season of struggles as they flirted with the bottom of the NL table. In the end the team managed to play slightly below average ball on the year. This saw the team finish in 3rd place in the NL table. This is the second third place finish in 2 years and the fans will be hoping that the off season sees some improvement in the team so that they can finish in a better position next year.

The team finished with a 8-9 loss to the Boston Red Stockings and a 1-2 series loss to the Brooklyn Atlantics. 7-6, 6-8 and 2-9

The players that showed they can still be counted on during the season to produce the goods were Right Fielder John Radcliff and Catcher John Clapp

John Radcliff has been with the club for 5 years. His starting history has been patchy during his career but this year it was good as he played in 54 games with 53 of those being starts. He had 204 at bats with 60 hits claimed. This gives him an average of .294. This is the worst of his career but was the best of the regular starters in the team this year.

Clapp has been with the club for 4 years and has been the starting catcher the last 3 of those years. This season saw him start all 60 games and claim 72 hits from 259 at bats. This gave him an average of .278 which is the best it has been when he is the regular starter.

The pitching has been mixed all season as 3 players made starts. Stearns made the most starts at 39 but his ERA was poorer at 2.57 than Al Pratt who had an ERA of 2.30 from 16 starts. Pratt also missed 4 months of the season through injury.
