8th October 1875

The fans of the Orioles were frustrated with the way their team played during the season. Their frustrations stemmed from a lack of batting and a slow start. This always made it difficult for the team to try and defend their pennant title as they were always playing catch up. The slow start meant that the team were lucky to play average ball during the year. This average ball saw them finish third in the AL 9 games behind the winning Philadelphia Athletics. The fans will hope that the batting stars will come back into form next season and push the team back up the table.

The final 3 games saw 2 losses and a win against the Philadelphia Athletics 5-6, 1-2 and 12-2

The players that did perform well during the season include pitcher Cherokee Fisher and Second Baseman Eddie Booth.

The 5 year veteran Cherokee Fisher put in another solid performance for the Orioles this year. He started 56 of the 60 games and pitched 462 innings. This work load saw him pick up another solid ERA of 2.77 for the year. This should put him in the running for the Pitcher of the Year award again.

Eddie Booth has been with the Orioles ever since they drafted him in the first year draft in 1871. This 4 year veteran gets his fair share of starts in the team at second base. This year he started 45 of the 60 games played. These games saw him have 173 at bats in which he claimed 50 hits for an average of .289. The best of the full time starters was third baseman Lip Pike who posted an average of .274
