The batting continued to keep the form up as they scored 64 runs in September. The hot bat in September was Third Baseman Ezra Sutton. Sutton started all 9 games and faced the pitchers 41 times. This saw him hit the ball 14 times and claim 10 runs with 5 RBI's. This gave him an average of .341. He was recognised for these efforts with the NL Batter of the Month award.

Jim Britt had had an excellent season and September was no different. He pitched 72 innings in 9 games to see 66 hits and only 10 earned runs go against him. This saw him have an ERA for the month of 1.25. The NL voters were so impressed they gave him another NL Pitcher of the Month award.
